Day-Long Programs
During the 2011-2012 school year, we are charging the following prices for day-long programs:
-
$13.00 per student (includes A.O.S.-provided lunch)
-
$10.00 per student (you and the students bring your own lunch)
**There is not a charge for chaperons* or teachers for one-day programs.
Two-Day Programs
During the 2011-2012 school year, we are charging the following prices for two-day, one-night programs:
-
$65.00 per student
-
$65.00 per chaperon*
-
School teachers are free.
*We do ask that there be no more than one (1) chaperon to every five (5) to eight (8) students. We also require the chaperones be at least 18 and out of high school.
If you desire to come for more than a two days, we can tailor a schedule to meet your needs.
Click here if you want to pre-register your group.
When do we need to schedule/reserve a date?
You need to register at least 21 days prior to the date you choose. You may reserve your field trip date(s) up to twelve (12) months in advance.
Does A.O.S. make presentations to school boards, P.T.A.s, or teachers groups?
If you are considering bringing your students out to A.O.S., and think a presentation to your school board or administration would help you gain permission to come to A.O.S., just give us a call and ask for Guy Atkinson. He can help you with the visit. Click here for contact information.
We really appreciate all the help we can get. A.O.S. is part of a non-profit organization called Acadian Baptist Center. Here are a few ways you can help:
- Prayer: Ultimately, God can improve the program.
- Volunteer: If you believe you are able to teach children and
teens about the outdoors and how to work together, please
contact us for more information.
Will my group get to sample all of the classes at A.O.S. when they come out?
At the current time we do not have a program set up to allow a class to experience all the subject matters in one day. However, if there is a request to have a school come to the camp for more than one day, we can tailor a program to meet your needs.
If a multiple-day program will not work for you, we can offer up to four classes per day. The number of classes you may include in your day-long experience will depend upon your arrival time to and departure time from A.O.S.
Does A.O.S. offer programs that are longer than one day?
Yes, we can tailor a schedule to meet your
needs.
You might want to try our overnight program, which includes up to 5
classes and an evening activity.
How many students can A.O.S. handle at one time?
As of Spring 2015, we are able to accommodate up to 60 students per day for science classes. We are able to accommodate up to 50 students for a combination of outdoor skills, team-building* and science classes. We hope to have ability to serve up to 100 in the future.
For a day of only team-building**, we are able to accommodate up to 40 students per day, maximum. For groups who are larger in number, you may consider breaking up the group and bring them on separate days during the same week.
Please call for further information.
*The team-building class offered in combination with the science and outdoor skills classes will not include the majority of our low ropes course. Other team-building activities will be incorporated for the sake of time.
**Operation: Cooperation will include team-building activities not part of the low ropes course. Due to time limits and group achievements, not every group will be able to participate in the same set of activities or elements some groups will participate in while at A.O.S.
May I, the teacher, choose the classes I want my students to experience?
Yes. The class times range from 1 hour to 1 hour and 20 minutes each. The current class offerings are mentioned below. If you choose Operation: Cooperation or the Character and Leaership Challenge Course, you may choose to have it last the entire time of your visit to A.O.S.
You are able to mix-and-match the science classes, team-building class and outdoor skills classes to fit your lesson-plan needs.
The team-building class, Operation: Cooperation, is available as a one-day program by itself. The one-day version of this class will allow each group more time to complete more low ropes elements and team-building activities. There is not a guarantee that each group will get to participate in the same set of activities and elements, though. If you need clarification about this topic, please feel free to contact us.
Sample schedule: Do you have a sample schedule?
Yes. Below you will find a copy of the sample schedules. Please conctact us if you have any questions about scheduling. Most school groups have time to complete a three-class schedule. Your schedule depends heavily upon your arrival and departure times.

How many chaperones should we bring?
You should plan on bringing one (1) chaperone for every ten (10) students. Teachers may act as chaperones.
This may be a good opportunity to get parental involvement. Parents may end up enjoying their time with the kids and desire to help out with other class activities in the future.
How can I get more information about AOS?
